As mentioned here, Nomikkh will be running roll playing games during the Festival. If you’ve wanted to get involved with traditional RPGs, or run some short adventures, we’re posting some Q&As Nomikkh put together.
Greetings, DayKnight adventurers! I hope you are hyped for an afternoon/evening of mystical happenings, dark deeds and shenaniganry. In the interest of getting as many people playing as possible for as long as possible, here are answers to some questions you may not even know you had!
Q: What game are you playing again?
A: We will be playing games within 2 tabletop RPG systems. If you have never played a tabletop RPG, there is a great general introduction here. Specifically we will be playing Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition as well as a bit of FATE Core.
If you would like to look over the rules to either system, here are two resources. However, it is not necessary that you do this in order to play. Players of all knowledge levels welcome!
Q: Do you have a schedule?
A: Yes! The fun will officially start when the Festival starts, 7pm EST/4pm PST on December 17th, 2016. I will be available beforehand for questions and things. Because I can’t really run a game with more than 5 players at a time (as a DM, it is really hard) I will be dividing the game time up into 3 segments of 1.5 hours each. That will let as many people who want to play play while still giving each group a good-ish block of time in which to adventure.
Schedule (in Pacific time):
4-5:30: Dungeons & Dragons 5e (level 5 characters)
5:30-ish-7:00: Dungeons & Dragons 5e (level 10 characters)
7:00-ish-8:30: FATE (starting characters)
You will notice this goes slightly over the Festival time. Again going with the “get as many people playing as want to” philosophy I decided to extend my stream a little.
Q: Do I need to make a character?
A: Nope! I have created characters for as many players as I can handle at a time (with the generous help of @OmegaCorith). That being said, if you WANT to create a character we can do that before the festival. Just email me at email@example.com and I’ll set up a chat with you.
Q: What do I need to prepare?
A: Your imagination! Well, in all seriousness there is something you can do before the day. That is to create a roll20 account. I will be handing out the link to the campaign the day of the Festival, but it would help if people who want to play already have a profile and avatar and whatnot set up.
Q: How will I join?
A: Good question. I will be hanging out in Discord and my stream chat starting an hour before the festival. Signups will begin then following the first-come-first-served model. Let me know which segment you want to play in and I’ll keep a tally until the slots fill up.
Q: Will I be on stream?
A: Your voice will be for sure. I will be using roll20’s integrated voice/video chat for the stream and the game. However, roll20 has an option to send voice only so if you don’t want to be on camera on stream you do not have to.
Q: What if we don’t finish our adventure?
A: This is entirely possible, but do not worry! I will set up another time to finish out any adventures that aren’t finished if players want that.
